Akaasa Technologies in New York, NY seeks a UX Engineer (UI/UX Designer Specialist II) to join a team supporting the Fair Hearings initiative. The role combines leading UX work with hands-on design and development across web and mobile contexts.

You will conduct user research, create models, wireframes, and prototypes, collaborate with developers, and ensure accessibility. The position offers a hybrid onsite/remote schedule with opportunities to drive user-centered improvements across NYS

Qualificações

• 7+ years of experience in UI/UX engineering on full lifecycle deliverables including wireframes, mockups, journey maps, prototypes, story boards and user surveys.
• Experience leading complex UX projects in a Health and Human Service context preferred.
• Experience with Fair Hearings or related programs is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business goals into UX strategy and deliverables.
• Design, develop and implement client and internal applications and prototypes; create UX deliverables.
• Conduct user research, usability testing and iteration to improve user experience.
• Partner with developers to implement designs and iterate on prototypes.
• Support design thinking workshops and multi-device UX planning (web, iOS, Android).
• Contribute to incident resolution and ongoing product improvement.

Overview:

Project or Program name the consultant will be working on:

• Fair Hearings (FH)

Duties and Responsibilities to be performed by the Consultant:

• Working as part of a team of problem solvers, consulting and collaborating with team members and stakeholders to understand business goals, and helping solve complex business issues from strategy to execution
• Designing, developing and implementing both client and internal facing applications and providing technology tools that help drive NYS strategic initiatives Using enterprise architecture across application areas to build delivery models that map capabilities to business needs outlined by NYS
• Using multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations Addressing defects and enhancements as part of the application support lifecycle
• Participating in incident resolution post implementation as required
• Creating and carrying out user research plans (i.e., surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.), as well as explaining user research results to internal and external stakeholders Planning and facilitating design thinking workshops (i.e., journey mapping, user needs modeling, etc.)
• Creating UX deliverables (i.e., developing user models and scenarios, sketches, user stories, user flows, interactive prototypes, wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps) Planning and conducting usability testing, analyzing user feedback and activity, and iterating to improve the user experience
• Working closely with developers to bring designs to life, assisting with content development, and creating and iterating on prototypes that require coding to improve solutions
• Collecting quantitative and qualitative UX metrics that support usability validation Designing for multi-device web, iOS, and Android contexts
• Other duties as assigned
• Consultants may be eligible to telecommute for more than 50% of their work hours, up to and including 100% remote work. Telecommuting arrangements require direct manager approval and are subject to change based on program needs. Consultants approved for 100% remote work must attend monthly in-person meetings at the Albany office and be available for major milestone meetings as needed

Mandatory Qualifications:

• Level II- More than seven (7) years of experience working on complex projects with 2 or more years in a leadership role as a UX Engineer
• Seven or more years of experience in UI/UX engineering on full life cycle of design deliverables including wireframes, mockups, journey maps, prototypes, story boards and user surveys
• One to two years working in an Integrated Eligibility System Program in various workstreams including Fair Hearings in a Health and Human Service setting

Desirable Qualifications:

• Seven or more years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Figma
• Two to five years of experience with user research, user modeling and usability testing
• Two to five years of experience with CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript
