Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks an experienced UX Designer to research, prototype, and validate digital experiences for customers and employees. You will translate user needs into flows, IA, wireframes, and interactive prototypes, supporting AI-enabled experiences with a human-centered approach.

Work with business and Technology partners to ensure accessibility, usability, and scalable designs. You’ll operate with limited guidance while growing skills across increasingly complex initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience applying human-centered design to digital products, services, or experiences.
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing and translating findings into design recommendations.
• Experience creating UX deliverables such as user flows, information architecture, wireframes, experience concepts, prototypes, or journey maps.
• Working knowledge of information architecture, experience design, accessibility, usability, and UX research methods.
• Experience using UX research, design, prototyping, collaboration, or testing tools.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct user research including interviews, usability studies, and other methods.
• Synthesize research into actionable insights and create personas, journey maps, and test plans.
• Facilitate discovery and co-creation activities with customers, employees, and teams.
• Translate insights into user flows, IA, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
• Apply design systems and reusable components when developing concepts and prototypes.
• Contribute to AI-enabled experiences and collaborate with partners throughout the lifecycle.
