Our client, one of the world's leading Chemical Societies & Scientific Non-Profits, is seeking a UX Designer for a remote position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, including US Citizens, Green Card Holders, and GC EADs. Applicants must reside within the continental United States.

Team Overview

The client’s Communications Division provides news, insights, and information about the chemical sciences, aligning with their mission to address global challenges. The Digital Product & Experience Strategy Team focuses on enhancing user interactions across digital channels.

The UX Team is looking for a passionate UX/UI Designer to develop data-driven, user-centered design solutions. Responsibilities include translating research and data into strategies, solving design challenges, and presenting concepts effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong design background, storytelling skills, and experience leading design sprints and workshops in fast-paced environments.

The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals, user needs, and brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leading end-to-end design processes with stakeholders, product managers, and technology teams to deliver impactful products.
2. Creating wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes that communicate design concepts.
3. Contributing to and adhering to the company's design system for consistency.
4. Harmonizing multiple design perspectives for a unified user experience.
5. Optimizing designs using insights from research, analytics, and testing.
6. Presenting designs to stakeholders, explaining their value and strategy.
7. Facilitating design sprints, workshops, and critiques.
8. Gathering feedback throughout the design lifecycle.
9. Ensuring accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA, Section 508) are met.
10. Managing priorities effectively.
11. *Providing basic front-end support in implementation.

Desired Skills & Experience

Required

• Degree in Digital Design, HCI, or related field + 4+ years UX/UI experience.
• 2+ years working on design systems.
• Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, etc.
• Understanding of user-centered design, accessibility, and UX trends.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Experience leading design sprints and workshops.
• Proficiency with web standards, responsive design, and mobile-first strategies.
• Familiarity with UX research tools, Agile, and data-driven design.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating design process and outcomes.
• Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Organized, communicative, and curious to innovate.

Highly Preferred

• Experience in client-facing or consulting roles.
• Leadership in UX projects.
• Ability to analyze web traffic data for design decisions.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.0+ AA and Section 508 guidelines.
