CEI is seeking a UX Content Writer / Content Strategist to shape content across the customer journey. You will write, edit, and govern clear, accessible communications for web, email, SMS, and digital assistant experiences, collaborating with design, UX, and product teams.

The role emphasizes translating complex information into customer-friendly language, applying accessibility best practices, and using data to improve self-service content.

Qualifications

• 3–6+ years of professional writing, editing, UX content, or content strategy experience.
• Strong editing and proofreading with attention to detail.
• Ability to simplify complex information for broad audiences.
• Experience across multiple customer communication channels.
• Experience applying accessibility practices.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners (design, CX, service, legal).

UX Content Writer / Content Strategist

Job at a Glance

• Title: UX Content Writer / Content Strategist
• Location: Remote (preference for candidates near Allentown, PA; Louisville, KY; or Providence, RI; quarterly onsite meetings)
• Contract: W2 only, 12 month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full time with either the client or CEI
• Pay: $55-$60/hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match

Overview

This role focuses on how content is structured, sequenced, and experienced across the end-to-end customer journey. You will create and govern clear, accurate, accessible communications across digital and traditional channels, partnering with cross-functional teams to improve usability and consistency. This position is well-suited for a content professional who combines strong writing and editing skills with customer empathy and a data-informed mindset.

Key Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and proofread customer-facing content for web, email, SMS, digital assistant experiences, and agent support materials.
• Translate complex or technical information into clear, customer-friendly language.
• Ensure consistency in voice, tone, terminology, and messaging across channels and touchpoints.
• Apply accessibility and inclusive content best practices to support usable experiences for all audiences.
• Manage content workflows, including reviews, approvals, and publishing processes.
• Maintain and update content standards, style guidelines, and templates.
• Use feedback and analytics to refine content and improve self-service experiences.

Required Skills

• 3–6+ years of professional writing, editing, UX content, or content strategy experience.
• Strong editing and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to simplify complex information for broad audiences.
• Experience supporting content across multiple customer communication channels.
• Experience applying accessibility and inclusive content practices.
• Experience working in Agile environments (e.g., sprint planning, backlog refinement, delivery ceremonies).
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners (e.g., design, customer experience, service, communications, development, legal).

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in regulated industries (preferred).
• Experience supporting self-service transaction content (web, mobile, email, SMS).
• Experience working in a corporate design team environment.
• Familiarity with data-driven and UX research-driven content iteration.
• Experience with Figma (nice to have).
• Proficiency with Excel or Airtable (nice to have).
• Experience mapping existing content structures across organizations or programs.
• Experience focusing on content strategy and governance rather than CMS page creation.
