Job summary

HII Mission Technologies invites a Manufacturing Engineer Co-op to join the Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV) team. You will develop, document, and execute manufacturing processes for UUVs in a defense contracting setting, focusing on hands-on support for production, integration, and testing while learning complex electromechanical systems and regulatory requirements.

Under guidance from senior engineers, you will translate designs into repeatable manufacturing solutions, participate in design

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree with 20%-40% of required credits completed.
• Experience or interest in unmanned systems and defense/aerospace industries is valued.
• Familiarity with manufacturing documentation and quality systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support development and maintenance of manufacturing processes for UUV systems, subassemblies, and components.
• Create and update work instructions, travelers, routings, and BOMs.
• Assist with new product introduction, including prototype builds and early production units.
• Collaborate with technicians to support assembly, integration, and test activities.
• Troubleshoot basic manufacturing issues and escalate complex problems to senior engineers.
• Support system-level integration, functional testing, and environmental testing of UUV assemblies.
• Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing or test discrepancies.
• Help in tooling, fixture, and test equipment development under senior direction.
• Ensure manufacturing documentation and processes meet quality, safety, and configuration control requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and provide manufacturability feedback as you gain experience.
