Job summary

Novo Building Products in Ohio is seeking a motivated Utility II production worker to support multiple production functions safely and efficiently. You will keep work areas clean, load materials, operate hand tools, and assist machine operators to meet daily output and quality goals.

Applicants must be 18+, have a High School Diploma or GED, and basic math and reading skills. Training on PPE and safety procedures is provided.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of hand tools safely and efficiently.
• Works with wood, wood filler, glue, sandpaper, dust, etc.

• Assists machine operators ensuring needed supplies and products are available.
• Examines product specifications to assist machine operators in achieving output and quality goals.
• Inspects material for defects prior to and after processing.
• Sands, packages and labels work in process and finished products.

Position SummaryThe Utility II production worker will be responsible to support the various production functions efficiently and safely within their assigned department. They will need to ensure work areas kept clean and they will need to ensure they meet production demands daily.Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:30am-3pmPay: $17-$18/hour DOEEssential ResponsibilitiesOperates a variety of hand tools safely and efficiently, including drills, saws, nail guns, hot glue guns, knives, clamps, and sanders.Works with wood, wood filler, glue, sandpaper, dust, etc.Set-ups and operates shrink wrapping equipment.Assists machine operators ensuring needed supplies and products are available for processing, allowing downtime and challenging goals are met.Examines product specifications to assist machine operators in achieving output and quality goals.Assists with loading, processing, and stacking material.Inspects material for defects prior to and after processing.Sands, packages and labels work in process and finished products.Identifies and communicates machine maintenance and/or performance issues to supervisor.Ensures proper guarding and safety devices are functioning and in use.Provides coverage as needed in other areas within or outside of the department.Ensures work areas are maintained in clean and organized fashion.Maintains work pace required to achieve production demands.Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.May work overtime, alternate shifts and weekends as needed on short notice.Performs other duties as assigned.Basic QualificationsMust be 18 years of age or older.High School Diploma or GED.Use of proper PPE and company approved tools while remaining aware of hazards and maintaining a safe work environment.Demonstrates basic math, interpersonal, and reasoning skills.Ability to read, understand and conduct written procedures and standard work instructions.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience in distribution or manufacturing environment.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Able to withstand exposure to seasonal weather elements and wood dust.100%: Stand, handle or feel, squeeze or grasp.80%: Reaching with hands and arms, depth perception.50%: Walk, repetitive motion, operate moving equipment.10%: Working bent at waist, stoop, kneel, crouch, bending or twisting.Lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. without assistance.Lift, push or pull 75-100 lbs. with assistance.About Novo Building ProductsNovo Building Products is an industry-leading manufacturer and distributor of stair parts, mouldings, doors, specialty millwork, and a variety of board products.
