Job summary

Howard County Government seeks skilled Labor-Intensive staff for Public Works; duties include meter reading, repair, and installation of residential and commercial meters. You will assist in construction and maintenance of water and sewer systems, often under supervision.

Responsibilities cover reading meters, performing repairs, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring safety standards. CDL and safety certifications are required or must be obtained per assignment.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in general laboring or public works maintenance, using hand and power tools.
• Experience with water and sewer facilities maintenance is preferred.
• Must be able to read blueprints/contract maps and operate related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read residential and commercial water meters and perform repairs as needed.
• Install new water meters and assist in meter pit work.
• Operate heavy equipment and vehicles under supervision.
• Maintain logs and assist crew leader as assigned.
