Job summary

HKA Enterprises seeks a hands-on Utility Worker to support water distribution, wastewater collection, and street infrastructure across Oregon. The role involves repairs, maintenance, and responding to after-hours emergencies in outdoor field conditions.

You will install and read water meters, operate valves, and perform basic valve shut-offs. A high school diploma and valid driver's license are required; prior utility experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain water distribution systems, storm drains, sewer collection systems, and lift stations.
• Perform street maintenance duties, including paving, patching, sign maintenance, concrete repair, and snow removal.
• Install, repair, and read water meters; operate valves and perform shut-offs/turn-ons.
• Repair and install manholes and cleanouts; clean debris from catch basins.
• Operate and maintain light/heavy equipment and perform basic repairs.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as part of on-call rotation.
• Respond to customer service requests and maintain positive public relations.
• Follow safety rules and maintain clean, orderly work areas.
• Report hazards to lead worker or supervisor.
• Complete records and reports related to daily activities.

Seeking a Utility Worker to support the operation, repair, and maintenance of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and street infrastructure. This is a hands-on, multi-disciplinary field role covering everything from water line repairs to street paving and snow removal. Pay:$22.50 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect, repair, and maintain water distribution systems, storm drains, sewer collection systems, and lift stations
• Perform street maintenance duties, including paving, patching, sign maintenance, concrete repair, and snow removal
• Install, repair, and read water meters; exercise valves; perform water shut-offs and turn-ons
• Repair and install manholes and cleanouts; clean debris from catch basins
• Operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on light and heavy equipment (backhoe, loader, sewer cleaner, welders)
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and tools
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as part of on-call rotation
• Respond to customer service requests and maintain positive public relations
• Use utility locator service prior to any excavation
• Follow all safety rules and procedures; maintain clean, orderly work areas
• Report public hazards (potholes, fallen signs, water leaks) to lead worker or supervisor
• Complete records and reports related to daily activities
• May assist other public works departments as needed

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license
• Some prior experience in water distribution, sewer collections, or street maintenance

Work Environment:

This role requires on-call availability for after-hours emergency response and involves outdoor fieldwork across varying weather conditions.
