Job summary

Ithaca College is seeking a Utility Worker/Dish Machine Operator to ensure cleanliness and sanitization of dishes, tableware, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils using both manual and machine methods. The role also involves maintaining a safe and clean dishwashing area and may be required to report to work during emergencies.

The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs, a flexible schedule including nights and weekends, and strict adherence to safety and hygiene standards within the Dining

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to adhere to all food preparation and service standards.
• Capacity to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., reach overhead, bend, stand for long periods, squat, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, overtime, and some holidays.

Responsibilities

• Scrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into dishmachine.
• Wash and sanitize all pans, utensils, and dishes.
• Clean, sanitize, and maintain dish machine.
• Unload dishes and utensils from dish machine and organize them properly.
• Manually wash pots and equipment that cannot be run through the dish machine.
• Empty trash containers regularly.
• Sweep, mop, and remove trash, recycling, and compost from all unit areas as needed and during assigned times.
• Service unit dining rooms. Aid in cleaning and sanitizing tables and chairs as needed throughout meal periods.
• Clean and sanitize high touchpoints in the dining room, front-of-house, and back-of-house.
• Perform additional cleaning duties as requested.
• Operate a baler.
• Communicate often, clearly, and professionally with co-works and management.
• Greet guests with a warm, friendly demeanor.
• Provide exceptional customer service for all guests.
• Uphold all required safety, service, and hygiene protocols and adjust practices to meet College and state regulations.
