Job summary

Sonoco Newport, TN is seeking a Utility Worker to support paper mill operations. You will assist in rewinding, slitting, and strapping rolls, load trucks, and help keep the mill area clean and organized. The role requires lifting, push/pull tasks, and a commitment to safety and attendance.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in rewinding, slitting, strapping rolls.
• Assists in removing broke, tagging, weighing, and storing in proper place; loads trucks.
• Responsible for cutting cores on weekends and nights.
• Keeps paper machine area neat and orderly; cleans basement, canteen, rest rooms, plant grounds.
• Unloads incoming waste paper; supplies waste paper and scrap to pulpers.
• Spots trailers for loading and unloading.
