Job Summary

The Utility position is primarily responsible for cleaning throughout the plant and scrubber vessels. This involves removing ash and coal dust accumulation and scale deposits using high-pressure water blasting equipment. The role requires working in hot, dusty, and sometimes humid confined spaces. Much of the work is at elevated locations, accessed via scaffolding or equipment surfaces using safety harnesses and fall protection systems. Utility personnel may assist mechanics with routine maintenance and major overhauls of plant equipment. Additional duties include clean-up, painting, weed cutting, and other assigned tasks. Utility personnel operate hydraulic loaders, dump trucks, forklifts, and other mobile equipment, as well as using a variety of hand tools and equipment throughout the plant. This description is not exhaustive and may include other reasonable work expectations as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

1. Cleaning scrubber vessels and other process equipment throughout the plant.
2. Operating hydroblasting equipment.
3. Assisting journeyman mechanics.
4. General plant cleaning and painting.
5. Sandblasting.
6. Erecting pre-engineered scaffolding.
7. Using a variety of hand tools.
8. Applying knowledge to operate many different kinds of tools.
9. Maintaining regular attendance and diligent work habits.

Basic Qualifications

1. High School Diploma/GED.
2. General knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and mobile equipment.
3. Ability to pass or ability to pass the Skilled Trades Testing/EEI MASS testing.
