Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a dedicated utility tree trimmer to join our outdoor-focused team. You will operate with climbing systems (DdRT/MRS, SRT/SRS) and perform pruning and removal for major electric utility providers, while following safety guidelines and leveraging industry best practices.

Successful candidates will complete orientation and safety courses, have a valid driver’s license, and may pursue CDL with Airbrake endorsement. Growth depends on initiative and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform tree trimming and removal safely.
• Willing to complete orientation and safety training.
• Possess valid driver’s license is required.
• Preferred: CDL with Airbrake endorsement.
• Experience in line clearance or related tree work preferred.
• Possession of pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.
• Certifications (ISA/TCIA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Prune and remove trees for major electric utility providers.
• Trim treetops and repair damaged trees.
• Remove broken limbs from lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Work as part of a crew with ground crew and foreperson.
• Growth potential depends on individual effort.

What We’re Seeking

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®
