Job description

Summary

This position is located within the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Plains Area (PA), National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) in Manhattan, KS. In this position, you will provide maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance for a variety of very large and complex HVAC equipment, heating and boiler equipment, and emergency generators in the Central Utility Plant.

Major Duties

• Installs, modifies, repairs, maintains, troubleshoots, tests, and loads new or existing electrical circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems to include boilers, chillers, and emergency generators.
• Assembles, tests, and maintains circuitry or electronic components using standard test equipment and analyzes results to evaluate performance and determines required adjustments.
• Maintains Central Utility Plant systems, replaces motors, belts, bearings, pump seals and adjusts alignment.
• Maintains logs and records on a computer using office software and completes reports and forms.
• Maintains and repairs mechanical and electronic components.
• Provides support to facility electronic and electro-mechanical systems to include operational utility plants throughout the facility.
• Uses a variety of test equipment such as volt‑ohm meters, transistor testers, digital meters, oscilloscopes, bearing analyzers, phase and null meters, galvanometers, and computerized automatic test equipment.
