Job summary

Mather Place is hiring a Utility Steward to support our Food and Beverage team in Wilmette, IL. The role focuses on maintaining cleanliness of kitchen equipment and back‑of‑house areas, including dishwashing, and assisting in dining areas as needed.

The position is available in full‑time and part‑time schedules, with weekend availability required. The hourly base wage range is $18.25–$19, reflecting market conditions and location.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, supplies, pots/pans, small wares, china, glass, and silver according to established safety standards and regulations.
• Operate dishwasher and other kitchen cleaning equipment.
• Cleans kitchen floors following standard procedures.
• Applies knowledge of safe use and storage of chemicals and equipment.
• Maintains and records data on required logs per company policies and procedures.
• Completes daily and weekly cleaning assignments per task lists.
• Regularly empties trash containers; shifts and cleans garbage cans; properly operates compactor.
• Minimizes loss and breakage through proper use, cleaning and storage of equipment and supplies.
• Performs duties in a timely and efficient manner and on a schedule determined by kitchen and dining operations.

Job description

We are an award‑winning employerseeking a Utility Steward to support the team by demonstrating the highest standards of culinary excellence, accountability, respect, integrity, and compassion. The utility steward is responsible for providing support to the Food and Beverage Department by maintaining the cleanliness of all kitchen equipment and back‑of‑house work area, including dishwashing of china, glassware, flatware. Maintains the food storeroom and executes special projects under the direction of the Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine and/or Executive Chef. May also set up public areas and help in dining area as requested by management. This is a safety sensitive position.

This role is available intwo schedules (full-time and part-time):

• Full-Time Position: Scheduled Tuesday through Saturday , 7:00 AM–2:30 PM (regular days off: Sunday and Monday )
• Part-Time Position: Scheduled Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday , 12:00 PM–8:00 PM

Please note that weekend availability is required, and holiday availability may be required depending on operational needs.

The hourly base wage range provided is a good faith estimate of what Mather reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, certifications, years of experience, geographic location, and current market conditions. Hourly Pay Range

$18.25—$19 USD
