Job summary

The Mather in Tysons, Virginia is seeking a full-time Utility Steward to support the Food and Beverage team by maintaining cleanliness of all kitchen equipment and back-of-house areas, including dishwashing and storeroom duties. Shift timings vary with afternoon/evening and weekend availability required.

This safety-sensitive role ensures safe handling of cleaning chemicals and sanitation standards. The position offers a competitive benefits package and opportunities to grow within a life-plan

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial kitchen sanitation is preferred.
• Willing to work afternoon/evening shifts and weekends.
• Ability to follow safety policies and logs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, supplies, pots/pans, small wares, china, glass, and silver.
• Operate dishwasher and other kitchen cleaning equipment.
• Clean kitchen floors following standard procedures.
• Applies knowledge of safe use and storage of chemicals and equipment.
• Maintains and records data on required logs per company policies and procedures.
• Completes daily and weekly cleaning assignments per task lists.
• Regularly empties trash containers; shifts and cleans garbage cans; properly operates compactor.
• Minimizes loss and breakage through proper use, cleaning and storage of equipment and supplies.
• Performs duties in a timely and efficient manner and on a schedule determined by kitchen and dining operations.

Job description

We are seeking a full-time Utility Stewardto support the team by demonstrating the highest standards of culinary excellence, accountability, respect, integrity, and compassion. The utility steward is responsible for providing support to the Food and Beverage Department by maintaining the cleanliness of all kitchen equipment and back-of-house work area, including dishwashing of china, glassware, flatware. Maintains the food storeroom and executes special projects under the direction of the Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine and/or Executive Chef. May also set up public areas and help in dining area as requested by management. This is a safety sensitive position.

Shift timings may vary but afternoon/evening & weekend availability is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, supplies, pots/pans, small wares, china, glass, and silver according to established safety standards and regulations.
• Operate dishwasher and other kitchen cleaning equipment.
• Cleans kitchen floors following standard procedures.

The hourly base wage range provided is a good faith estimate of what Mather reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, certifications, years of experience, geographic location, and current market conditions. Hourly Pay Range: $18.50 USD - $20 USD
