Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience with medium voltage air insulated or gas insulated products and associated components; protection and control systems; project management; and engineering design software (AutoCAD/E-base). Up to 20% travel; remote work permitted.

Location: 1000 Deerfield Parkway, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089

Position Title: Utility, Sales, & Order Lead Engineer

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week

Summary of Duties: Support sales force on medium voltage air insulated and gas insulated switchgear packages. Interpret project plans and specifications, product application, configuration of product, technical support, proposal preparation, lead time information, and review project terms and conditions and pricing authority managed to price bands, as determined by the manager. Collaborate with the Sales and Business Development teams during project negotiations. Decipher project plans, one-lines, three-lines, schematics, and specifications to configure systems, offer technical support, and craft compelling commercial proposals. Provide professional engineering services with minimal directions to interpret customer drawings and specifications for manufacturing or related products. Review customer needs and specifications to determine the minimum bill of material, the most competitive price level, and shipment cycle within the market segment pertaining to each specific negotiation. Interact with the sales force and customers on job-specific details such as on-board approvals and witness tests, as well as design circuits to meet application requirements. Create engineering documentation for drafting, procurement, and manufacturing. Provide coordination for technical guidance to production personnel, support product marketing, and provide negotiation and application support for field sales and business development. Provide engineering functions in support of product marketing, manufacturing, and sales in line with company and product line objectives. Serve as primary division contact for customers as technical liaison in all aspects of product application, performance, and compliance to specifications and solutions and complex customer problems. Participate in product design, market and product improvements, as well as productivity, quality, and safety improvements. Facilitate order entry, order and price reconciliation, and other customer-requested functions. Up to 20% domestic travel required. Remote work permitted.

Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field of study and five (5) years of experience in the job offered, or as a Solution Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Lead Engineer, or an acceptable alternate occupation. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study, and three (3) years of experience in the job offered, or as a Solution Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Lead Engineer, or an acceptable alternate occupation. The position requires experience with the following: Medium voltage air insulated or gas insulated products and associated components, such as bus duct, transformers, etc.; Protection systems, control systems, and communication protocols; Project management, with experience managing multiple job simultaneously and prioritizing tasks effectively; and Engineering design software for 2‑D drawings, such as AutoCAD or E‑base. Up to 20% domestic travel required. Remote work permitted.
