Siemens Mobility in Wendell, NC is seeking an Electrical Engineer specialized in Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) for an early‑ to mid‑career role. You will translate customer requirements into MV switchgear designs, with focus on protection and control systems, and develop complete engineering documentation.

You will work on one‑line diagrams, schematics, and bills of material, collaborating with manufacturing and service teams to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• 1–4+ years of experience designing or configuring electrical power distribution systems.
• Experience with electrical drafting tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Engineering Base, ELCAD).
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsabilités

• Develop complete engineering documentation for customer approval and MV switchgear manufacturing.
• Create accurate one-line diagrams, control schematics, and bills of material using Siemens configurator.
• Own technical deliverables as a project engineering lead, ensuring quality and timely execution.

This hybrid Electrical Engineer - GIS Switchgear position is based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates. Local candidates are encouraged to apply.

You will support the design and application of Siemens Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear solutions. This role focuses on translating customer requirements into high‑quality, cost‑effective engineering designs that meet technical, schedule, and quality expectations. You will also analyze customer technical specifications, one‑line diagrams, and schematics to develop MV switchgear solutions, including associated protection and control systems.

You'll make a difference by:

• Developing complete engineering documentation for customer approval and MV switchgear manufacturing.
• Creating accurate one‑line diagrams, control schematics, and bills of material using Siemens engineering configurator tool.
• Owning technical deliverables as a project engineering lead, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely execution.
• Supporting manufacturing, service teams, and customers to ensure designs are built and delivered as intended.
• Collaborating to resolve technical issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Having a desire to grow your knowledge in the power systems engineering field with the support of an experienced team.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• One to Four (or more) years of experience designing or configuring electrical power distribution systems, with an emphasis on MV switchgear.
• Experience with electrical drafting tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Engineering Base, ELCAD, or similar software.)
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (power systems preferred)
• Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for MV switchgear
• Experience with Air Insulated MV switchgear and/or Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS)

• The pay range for this position is $68,830 - $117,994 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
