Job summary

The City of Columbia seeks a skilled Utility Relocation Coordinator to manage and coordinate water, sewer, and storm drainage relocation projects in collaboration with City forces, citizens, and external professionals.

This role involves reviewing plans, maintaining project records, and representing the City at inter-agency briefings and field meetings, with a focus on minimizing conflicts with roadway construction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 10 years relevant experience.
• One year of relevant prior experience.
• Valid South Carolina Class “D” Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Utility Relocation Manager in coordinating and managing City forces, Citizens and outside professionals in the research, preparation, review, inspection of new and relocated water/wastewater/storm water utility plans and construction.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date project records.
• Reviews highway construction plans for conflicts with existing City utilities and designs and lay out solutions.
• Assists the Utility Relocation Manager in researching maps and engineering plans to identify problem areas and opportunities for enhancement of the City's water and sewer systems.
• Represents the City at SCDOT/Municipal project briefings, preconstruction conferences and field meetings.
• Manages and coordinates utility construction and relocation to minimize conflicts with proposed roadway construction.
