Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician III (S) to support utility coordination on highway projects. You will develop relocation strategies, schedules, and plans, and review complex highway plans for utility data to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in performing inspection of utility relocation and/or construction, as part of highway projects.
• Ability to read and interpret highway construction plans and utility relocations.
• Excellent oral and written communication with the public, contractors and other Department units.

Responsibilities

• Develop utility relocation strategies and schedules for highway projects.
• Coordinate removal, relocation, and modification of utilities within highway rights of way.
• Authorize utility relocations and administer related contracts (permits for occupancy).
• Review highway plans for accuracy of utility data and provide field verifications.
