The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities - Wastewater Utility is seeking a Utility Plant Specialist with experience maintaining industrial mechanical equipment. This essential role includes reporting for emergency/on-call duty and working 8-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities include leading helpers, performing preventive maintenance, ordering parts, and coordinating with vendors.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
No experience required; however two years in related field preferred.
Zone II/III/IV licensing requirements may apply for advancement.
Equivalent combination of training and experience may be accepted by the department.

Responsabilités

Perform routine and specialized maintenance in areas such as building/plant or grounds maintenance.
Serve as lead worker over helpers and maintain records; attend staff meetings.
Conduct safety inspections of vehicles, equipment and tools; enforce safety procedures.
Order supplies and parts; oversee contractors and interact with citizens when tasks are performed.
Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on wastewater plant and pumping stations.
Respond to routine and emergency calls; handle gearboxes, conveyors and related wastewater duties.
Provide leadership/training as needed.
