Job summary

Scoular is hiring a Utility Plant Operator to support plant operations through general housekeeping and labor tasks. You will assist production staff, obtain tools and materials, and transport samples for testing while following safety policies and procedures.

The role requires a High School Diploma/GED, ability to operate machinery, good communication, and the stamina to work in varied environments and 12-hour rotating shifts.

Qualifications

  • Ability to operate various types of machinery.

  • Basic computer skills and the ability to look at screens for long periods.
  • Ability to work in varied indoor/outdoor conditions and in loud/dusty environments.
  • Flexibility to perform physical duties including bending, lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform facility housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Provide general labor support to Plant Operators and production staff.
  • Obtain and deliver tools, equipment, materials as requested.
  • Assist with cleanup after maintenance or production activities.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and OSHA/MSHA guidelines and participate in safety initiatives.
  • Work in a team-oriented, reliable and flexible manner.

About The Role

The Utility Plant Operator will be responsible for supporting plant operations through general facility housekeeping and operational assistance. This role focuses on maintaining a clean and safe work environment by sweeping debris, performing routine cleanup tasks, and supporting production staff as needed. The Utility Operator will obtain tools, equipment, and materials when requested, collect and transport samples from soybeans and canola for testing, and assist with general plant needs. This position is expected to follow all company safety policies and procedures and perform all duties in a safe, efficient, and team-oriented manner.

About The Role

The Utility Operator will obtain tools, equipment, and materials when requested, collect and transport samples from soybeans and canola for testing, and assist with general plant needs. This position is expected to follow all company safety policies and procedures and perform all duties in a safe, efficient, and team-oriented manner.

Job Duties
  • Perform facility housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including sweeping debris, removing waste, and keeping walkways, platforms, and work areas clear.
  • Support plant operations through general labor assistance, responding to requests from Plant Operators, Shift Supervisors, or other production personnel as needed.
  • Obtain and deliver tools, equipment, materials, and supplies when requested to support ongoing plant and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with general plant needs, including cleanup following maintenance or production activities and preparation of work areas as directed.
  • Follow all Company Safety Policies and Procedures as well as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations and guidelines Support business activities, objectives, and programs.
  • Perform all duties in a team‑oriented manner, demonstrating reliability, flexibility, and willingness to assist where needed to support overall plant operations.
  • Actively participate in safety initiatives, including safety meetings, near‑miss reporting, and maintaining awareness of potential hazards within the facility.
About You

This position must have:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Ability to operate various types of machinery, required
  • Ability to look at computer screens for a long period of time
  • To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions
  • Ability to work in loud noise environments
  • Ability to work in dusty environments
  • Ability to work in elevated areas above 4 feet when necessary and in confined spaces
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting of up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely
  • Ability to adhere to all PPE policies
  • Ability to work 12hr rotating shifts
