Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Facilities Technician to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical equipment such as air handlers, boilers, chillers, and medical gas systems. You will ensure utilities, lighting, and climate control meet hospital needs while performing routine maintenance and repairs.

Responsibilities include monitoring HVAC systems, performing minor repairs, logging shift activities, and completing preventive maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

• Min. 3-5 years' experience in a power plant setting handling boilers, chillers, pumps.
• Knowledge of state and local codes and ordinances. Knowledge of computers.
• H.S. Diploma/GED is required; vocational training is a plus.

Summary

• Responsible for the operation, troubleshooting, and maintaining of all mechanical equipment such as air handlers, compressors, generators, chillers, steam boilers and medical gas equipment. Also to provide utilities such as lighting, heating, cooling, power for refrigeration, and to make emergency maintenance repairs.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the Facilities HVAC systems
• Checks equipment while in operation and makes necessary minor repairs.
• Monitors the efficient operation and performs daily maintenance on the facility's operating machinery.
• Observes steam flow meter, carbon dioxide recorders, pressure/draft gauges to ensure proper operation of equipment.
• Conducts all chemical teats for boilers, softeners, etc. as required.
• Observes regulations imposed by local, state, or hospital authorities, such as periodically shutting down boilers, removing side/rear panels, and inspecting for scale deposits and the cleaning of equipment.
• Maintains boiler plant shift logbook.
• Records time and materials expended on each work order. 2. Performs daily work requests and monthly preventative maintenance repairs on various equipment
• Completes preventive maintenance work requests as assigned. i.e., Air filters, medical gas alarm system testing, nurse call units, ice machines
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment 3. Works in conjunction with other Associates in the Department to complete various tasks 4. Removes snow and ice as needed

Credentials

• Driver's License (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience

• H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
• Min. 3- 5 years' experience in a power plant setting handling boilers, chillers, pumps. General maintenance tasks i.e. electrical, plumbing, carpentry Knowledge of state and local codes and ordinances. Knowledge of computers.
