Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead skilled HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting technicians in daily hospital operations.

You will schedule work, supervise trades, coordinate with peers and contractors, and ensure safe, compliant maintenance of buildings, grounds, utilities and equipment. Weekend or after-hours coverage may be required; strong communication and leadership are essential.

Experience in hospital facilities maintenance highly valued.

Qualifications

• Graduate of trade school or apprenticeship.
• Five years mechanical vocational training or equivalent.
• Five years electrical vocational training or equivalent.
• Two years tradesman supervision/leadership.
• Five years of vocational training in electrical, mechanical, building trades and hospital maintenance.

• Lead technicians through work distribution and monitoring performance.

Schedule: Mon -Fri 7am -3:30pm with occasional other shifts responsibilities for snow and projects

Summary

• To provide scheduling and work direction to specialty trades and maintenance mechanics for service calls, preventive maintenance assignments, corrective assignments, and other activities necessary for the management of the day to day departmental maintenance and operations activities. Personally performs like functions requiring direct application of trade skills and knowledge. Performs all types of maintenance and repair work and related tasks necessary to maintain, operate and/or construct buildings, grounds, property, utilities and equipment. Leads other technicians through work distribution, job scheduling, coordination with other crafts and through monitoring/evaluation of performance. This position provides team leadership to skilled HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpenter, Painting technicians, and maintenance mechanic technicians. Communicates with peers, staff, contractors, tenants and all customers on job or project issues and details.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Graduate of Trade school and or apprenticeship


• Five 5 years of mechanical vocational training or equivalent on the job training


• Five 5 years of electrical vocational training or equivalent on the job training


• Two 2 years tradesman supervision leadership or equivalent on the job training


• Five 5 years of vocational training trade school with electrical, mechanical, building training and hospital construction maintenance

Credentials

Education or Equivalent Experience

• Vocational/Trade Diploma (Required)


• Graduate of Trade school and/or apprenticeship Or 10+ years of previous job-related work experience


• Five (5) years of mechanical vocational training Or Five (5) years of electrical vocational training Or Two (2) years tradesman supervisor/leadership preferred Or Five (5) years of vocational training/trade school with electrical, mechanical, building training and hospital construction/maintenance preferred
