Job summary

Walbec Group is seeking a Utility Pipe Layer to install, align, and inspect underground utilities including water mains, sewer lines, and storm drains. This role requires lifting up to 75 pounds and working with a construction crew to prepare trenches and lay piping to grade. Applicants should have a valid driver’s license; Class A CDL is strongly desired.

A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Willingness to work varied hours, in variable weather, and to join a union is common.

Qualifications

Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Class A CDL strongly desired.
High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
Must be punctual and dependable.
Able to work varied hours including nights, early mornings, and weekends as needed.
Be able to tolerate and work in variable weather conditions, and work in dirty and dusty environments.
Member of a Local Laborer Union, or willingness to become a union member are required.
3-5 years road construction laborer experience is preferred.
Minimum 6 months experience in assembling and installing sanitary sewer pipe and manholes, water main, and storm sewer pipe and manholes.
Knowledge of confined spaces, OSHA trenching and sloping is preferred.
Must be able to lift 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Install, align, and inspect underground utilities such as water mains, sewer lines and storm drains.
Prepare trenches, lay pipe to grade, and ensure proper connections.
Assist with machine/equipment maintenance and job site cleanup as directed by Foreman.
