Job summary

Walbec Group is seeking a Utility Pipe Layer to install, align, and inspect underground utilities such as water mains, sewer lines, and storm drains. You will work with a crew to prepare trenches, lay pipe to grade, and ensure safe, code-compliant connections in varying weather conditions.

The role requires lifting up to 75 pounds, willingness to work nights or weekends as needed, and a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Install, align, and inspect underground utilities including water mains, sewer lines, storm drains and piping.
  • Prepare trenches, lay pipe to grade, and ensure connections meet safety and project specs.
  • Maintain equipment and assist with job-site cleanup as directed by Foreman.

Midwest. The Position: The Utility Pipe Layer is responsible for

installing, aligning, and inspecting underground utilities such as water

mains, sewer lines, storm drains, and other piping systems. This role

involves working as part of a construction crew to prepare trenches, lay

pipe to grade, and ensure proper connections that meet safety and

project specifications. Must be able to lift 75 pounds. The pipelayer

will also assist with keeping machines and equipment maintained, assist

in clean-up of job site, and other duties assigned by the Foreman or

other management. Requirements: Valid driver\'s license and satisfactory

driving record. Class A CDL strongly desired. High School diploma or GED

equivalent is preferred. Must be punctual and dependable. Able to work

varied hours including nights, early mornings, and weekends as needed.

Be able to tolerate and work in variable weather conditions, and work in

dirty and dusty environments. Member of a Local Laborer Union, or

willingness to become a union member are required. Union membership is

not required prior to employment. 3-5 years road construction laborer

experience is preferred. Minimum 6 months experience in assembling and

installing sanitary sewer pipe and manholes, water main, and storm sewer

pipe and manholes. Knowledge of confined spaces, OSHA trenching and

sloping is preferred. Must be able to lift 75 pounds. The Benefits: Our
