Job summary

Walbec Group in Madison, WI is seeking a Utility Pipe Layer to install, align and inspect underground water mains, sewer lines, and storm drains with a crew on commercial projects.

You will prepare trenches, lay pipe to grade, ensure proper connections, and assist in equipment maintenance and site clean-up. Must meet safety standards and be able to lift 75 pounds; union membership encouraged.

Qualifications

• Requires valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• CDL-A strongly preferred.
• Must be punctual and dependable.
• Able to work varied hours including nights, early mornings, and weekends.
• Union membership or willingness to join is required.
• 3-5 years road construction laborer experience preferred.
• Minimum 6 months experience in assembling/installing sanitary sewer pipe and manholes, water main, and storm sewer pipe.
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
• Knowledge of OSHA trenching and safety is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, align, and inspect underground utilities (water mains, sewer lines, storm drains).
• Prepare trenches and lay pipe to grade with proper connections.
• Assist in keeping machines and equipment maintained and on job site cleanup.
• Perform duties as assigned by Foreman or management.

This role involves working as part of a construction crew to prepare trenches, lay pipe to grade, and ensure proper connections that meet safety and project specifications. Must be able to lift 75 pounds . The pipelayer will also assist with keeping machines and equipment maintained, assist in clean-up of job site, and other duties assigned by the Foreman or other management.Requirements :Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.Class A CDL strongly desired.High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.Must be punctual and dependable.Able to work varied hours including nights, early mornings, and weekends as needed.Be able to tolerate and work in variable weather conditions, and work in dirty and dusty environments.Member of a Local Laborer Union, or willingness to become a union member are required.
