Position Summary

The Utility Person operates powered industrial trucks (P.I.T.) equipped with lifting attachments such as booms and drum grabbers to safely and efficiently move materials—including work‑in‑process metal coils, drums, totes, and pallets—throughout a manufacturing facility. This role also requires basic computer skills to support inventory tracking, data entry, and production processes.

Essential Job Functions

• Assist the rewind operator by making cuts of the strip and visually checking the appearance of the strip at the rewind.
• Monitor safety PPE, housekeeping, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Support the preparation and mixing of paint drums as well as cleaning pans.
• Remove coated coils from the coil cart for weighing.
• Assist Coater Technicians with paint changes as requested.
• Assist with paint changes, clean up, and strip breaks.
• Enter data into the computer system.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Fluency in English (read, write, and speak).
• Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as training manuals, write routine reports, and facilitate training sessions.
• Proficiency in mathematics, including dividing units of measure and computing rates, ratios, percentages, and interpreting graphs.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels; occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles. PPE must be worn at all times.
• Regular communication with other employees; regular lifting and moving up to 50 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities include close/distance, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Compensation

$21.63 per hour.
