Job summary

The University Of Nebraska Medical Center is looking for a skilled utility plant operator responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all equipment associated with its utility plant. This full-time regular position requires at least two years of experience in operation and maintenance of high pressure boilers.

The operator will monitor the electrical distribution system and provide training to junior operators while performing preventative maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in operation and maintenance of high pressure boilers.
• Fundamental knowledge of industrial plant chilled water, steam, and electrical systems.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and a valid City of Omaha Grade Stationary Engineer license.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for operation of all equipment associated with utility plant and distribution system.
• Starts, operates, and shuts down boilers and their auxiliaries.
• Provides training to the Utility Operator I and performs preventative maintenance.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and proper operation of all equipment associated with utility plant and distribution system serving the UNMC /Neb Med campus.

Starts, operates, and shuts down boilers and their auxiliaries, chillers and their auxiliaries, generators and their auxiliaries, and all other necessary plant equipment from a central control room.

Responsible for the operation and monitoring of the 13.8 KV and 5KV electrical distribution system serving the UNMC /Neb Med campus.

Directs the activities and provides training to the Utility Operator I. Performs preventative and routine maintenance as assigned.

Required Education

High School education or equivalent. (Will consider two years post high school education in a related vocational technical trade program/related experience)

Required Experience

2 years. Experience in operation and maintenance of high pressure boilers and related equipment to include fundamental knowledge of industrial plant chilled water, steam, and electrical systems.

Required License

Valid motor vehicle operator’s license. A valid City of Omaha 3rd, 2nd, or 1st Grade Stationary Engineer license.
