University of Nebraska Omaha is seeking a Facilities Operator to manage HVAC systems on a Tue–Sat schedule from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The role includes preventive maintenance, campus plumbings tasks, and energy management system monitoring.
The ideal candidate has at least one year of HVAC/plant experience, a valid driver’s license, and a City of Omaha Third Grade Engineers license eligibility within 18 months. This is a full-time, on-site position with hourly pay.

Operate, maintain, install, and perform preventive maintenance on all types of heating,
air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment including large commercial air handlers,
boilers, chillers, pumps, generators, AC split systems, air compressors, and other related
equipment. Requires general knowledge of building systems and maintenance relating to
commercial HVAC systems. Requires general knowledge of commercial HVAC
automatic control systems, building electrical systems, commercial plumbing systems,
and all related components. Requires some experience with commercial plumbing
systems, fixtures, and related components. Perform carpentry work throughout campus,
such as repairs to doors and door hardware, ceilings, flooring, and classroom seating.
This position will be expected to interact with customers and other employees in a
professional manner that enhances work effectiveness for the facilities maintenance
crew. Assist Plant Operators as directed. Perform all duties of that position to include, but
not limited to, operating central utilities plant equipment, make rounds and complete
operating logs, monitor campus equipment through the energy management systems,
note deficiencies and take corrective action.
Operate, maintain, install, and perform preventive maintenance on all types of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment including large commercial air handlers, boilers, chillers, pumps, generators, AC split systems, air compressors, and other related equipment. Ensure compliance with regulations including all applicable building, electrical and fire codes, university and departmental standards and guidelines. Assist with major rebuilds and repairs on equipment as required.
