Position Summary: The Utility Operator plays a vital role in overall plant operations, providing support in equipment operation, clay handling, shipping, and screener room maintenance. This position ensures smooth workflow by assisting with production processes, material movement, and general facility upkeep.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate material handling equipment: Loader, skid steer, and forklift.
  • Clean slurry filters, nozzles, fluidizer walls, etc., to maintain product quality, production rate, and clean work areas.
  • Actively inspect all plant areas for safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for plant clean-up, bagging, and shipping of finished product.
  • Assist with plant production processes to optimize efficiency.
  • Perform other related tasks as necessary.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends if needed.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience in an industrial plant setting.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in all weather conditions: hot, cold, wet, dry, dusty (indoor and outdoor).
  • Work in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees.
  • Safely climb stairs and ladders; frequently get on and off mobile equipment.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Handle chemicals safely.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.

Working Conditions:

  • Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and vision.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Prolonged sitting on forklifts or warehouse equipment.
  • Exposure to noise, vibrations, bright lights, dust, fumes, gases, and various climate conditions.
  • Use of protective gear such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing, breathing protection, and hard hats.
  • Work under stressful conditions at times.
  • Quick reactions using hands, fingers, or feet.
  • Ability to move and lift 40-pound pallets.
  • Travel throughout the facility for safety inspections.
  • Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Complete tasks despite interruptions.
  • Use discretion and independent judgment.
  • Communicate clearly on the phone and with colleagues.
