Join to apply for the Utility Operator role at WIN Waste Innovations.

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Utility Operator. Working under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor and the Control Room Operator, the Utility Operator will be responsible for operating and inspecting various power plant systems, including boilers and associated equipment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment following established plant procedures.
• Monitor and inspect auxiliary equipment such as pumps, motors, fans, dampers, air compressors, valves, mixers, conveyors, and electrical devices.
• Read and interpret data from meters, gauges, etc., to identify malfunctions or abnormal conditions.
• Perform sampling and treatment of ash and water as assigned.
• Monitor air pollution control equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Operate mobile equipment including Bobcat, steer loader, and forklift.
• Operate refuse cranes, maintain refuse-fuel levels in the furnace, and oversee fire watch duties.
• Work extended overtime hours during maintenance periods.
• Promote a positive work environment through effective communication and teamwork.

Experience and Education

• At least three months of related experience or training.
• Mechanical skills for tasks like valve repacking, equipment inspection, and shear pin replacement.
• Knowledge of auxiliary power plant equipment operation.
• Willingness to work overtime and rotating shifts.

Licensing

• For Massachusetts, possession or ability to obtain a 2nd Fireman's and Hoisting License within 9 months.

Work Environment

Includes exposure to noise and adverse conditions, with accommodations available for disabilities.

Physical Demands

• Standing, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs., operating equipment, and working at heights and in confined spaces.

PPE Requirements

• Use of respirators, hardhats, safety shoes, eye protection, gloves, suits, hearing protection, and safety harnesses as needed.
