Under the direction of the Engineering Department and the Maintenance Manager, the Utility Mechanic or Electrical Technician will support the maintenance needs, both mechanical and electrical, of Operations and Production in standard conditions, including troubleshooting and repair, preventative and predictive maintenance. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing production/processing equipment to reduce machine‑related downtime, eliminate losses, and improve machine reliability. The Technician should be able to work in a team environment, working with all areas of the business to provide support, repairs, and solutions to various problems.
7-9 years of experience in an Industrial Maintenance or Electrician role, preferably in the food industry. Understands Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all safety requirements with working on industrial equipment (LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space, electrical safety, chemical safety). Understands the fundamentals of material compatibility, sanitary design, equipment drawings, general utilities (gas, air, electric, water).
Familiar with the general names of parts, diagrams, equipment, etc.
This position requires excellent cross‑functional communication skills. Provides mentoring, coaching and leading technology and technical skills development. Provides feedback to Production on problems and solutions; recommends improvements within the department. Provides support with training, learning and education as well as best maintenance practices.
The candidate should be very detail oriented, have strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, demonstrated grammatical and organizational skills and must be a self‑starter, who is able to work independently. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Word) required. Working knowledge of PLC, HMI, Work Order Systems. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, work up to heights of 50 ft, become forklift and man‑lift certified.
