Job summary

McCormick & Company, Inc. is hiring a Maintenance Technician II for night shift to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot production equipment at our Alaska facility.

The role requires hands-on skills across electrical, mechanical, welding, and machine shop tasks with a focus on safety and reliability. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma plus 5+ years in manufacturing maintenance, supervisory experience, and proficiency with CMMS and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 3-5 years related experience.
  • Minimum of one year experience supervising employees in a manufacturing/production/industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to work across functions and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot production equipment at the facility.
  • Inspect equipment and perform preventive maintenance as part of Planned Maintenance.
  • Operate and become certified forklift operator; lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Dept. and cross-functional teams to resolve issues.

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Technician II, the employee will be responsible for the maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on a variety of production equipment at our facility.

Responsibilities
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in all maintenance crafts to include basic electrical, mechanics, welding, machine shop.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to closely interact with co-workers in and outside of the Maintenance Department.
  • Demonstrated ability to methodically analyze and correct problems of a varied nature on a wide range of equipment and support systems.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to become a certified forklift operator.
  • Must be agile enough to maneuver around equipment, climb stairs, and go up and down ladders to reach various equipment.
  • Ability to work overtime daily and weekends, sometimes with minimal notice.
  • Flexibility with shift hours is required.
  • Ability to work up to heights of 45 ft. on material handling equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CMMS and Microsoft Office.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of Planned Maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated process improvement ability and leadership.
  • Must be able to successfully work individually and as part of a team.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 3-5 years related experience.
  • Minimum of one year experience supervising employees in a manufacturing/production/industrial environment.
  • Minimum of one year experience leading others through a project(s) or initiative(s).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to work across functions and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem solving capabilities to assess risk.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the financial impact of business decisions affecting staffing, product components and inventory.
  • Experience successfully leading large teams to support business initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a dynamic self-starter, work independently and apply sound judgment to solve complex problems with incomplete/ambiguous information.
  • Experience successfully handling multiple projects at once and working under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to resolve issues.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to propose and implement improvements to systems, methods of work and analysis methods and contribute to ensuring that they are continuously adapted to the business requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in food processing.
  • Experience in plumbing, millwright and carpentry.
  • Welding experience including certification in basic welding.
  • PLC and Industrial electrical experience.
  • Robotic and Conventional Palletizer experience.
  • Dense phase pneumatic conveying experience.
  • Hands on experience with new equipment installation.
  • Experience with boiler, chillers, air compressors.
  • Trade school, certificate or apprenticeship in industrial maintenance.
  • Experience in food processing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and relay logic.
