Job summary

Northern Lights Locating and Inspection, Inc. seeks a full-time Utility Locator to identify underground utilities for clients and property owners under 811 laws, using maps, GIS data, and locating equipment.

You will mark locations, document work with forms and photos, and support field operations. Travel is 75%+ with on-site work in varying weather. A valid driver's license and ability to pass a DOT physical are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of utility locator experience required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a DOT physical.
• Ability to travel 75%+ and work varying schedules.
• Comfortable with using a cell phone app to record locating marks for clients' property.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities for clients and property owners per 811 dig laws.
• Utilize utility maps, as-built drawings, GIS data, and locating equipment.
• Mark locations with flags and/or paint.
• Prepare reports, forms, and memos documenting work and issues.
• Take photos of located utilities for each ticket.
• Investigate excavations for damages and document findings.

Not just a ‘Paint and Flag’ service, Northern Lights delivers locating and inspection expertise that goes beyond that of traditional utility location. Northern Lights provides protection to our customers utility 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We have since expanded into Sewer Imaging, inspection, and locating sewer mains/laterals using the latest technology on the market.
