Job summary

GridHawk LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Locate Technician in Battle Creek, MI. You will identify and mark underground utilities to support safe excavation and construction activities, with strong emphasis on communication and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities include operating GPR, EM locators, and GPS devices, maintaining records, and coordinating with contractors and utility companies to ensure accuracy and safety.

Qualifications

• Must be detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
• Physically able to perform field tasks and weather exposure.
• Experience in utility locating or construction is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Respond to locate requests and identify underground utilities (gas, electric, water, sewer, telecom).
• Operate locating equipment (GPR, EM locators, GPS) to detect and mark lines.
• Mark locations clearly using paint, flags, or stakes according to standards.
• Maintain records of locate activities and prepare reports for compliance.
• Communicate with contractors, utility companies and customers to resolve issues.
• Follow safety protocols to prevent damage and ensure public safety.
• Perform maintenance/calibration of locating equipment.
• Collaborate with team to meet project deadlines.
