Job Description:

Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is key to ensuring compliance with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations, using multiple methods.

The locating technician will be dispatched to locate and verify utilities for customers. Technicians can work independently or in a team environment, always under the supervision of an assigned supervisor. This job requires focus, skill, and the use of machinery and tools.

All employees are provided with necessary technology and work vehicles to perform their duties, including:

• Company vehicle, laptop, and smartphone
• All personal protective equipment

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Locating underground facilities using transmitters and hookups
• Working in various terrains and weather conditions
• Interpreting job tickets, blueprints, and maps
• Performing locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as needed
• Communicating effectively with customers and team members
• Ensuring a damage-free environment through coordination

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid state-issued driver’s license
• Problem-solving ability
• Ability to interpret various prints
• Vacuum truck experience is a plus
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs
• Ability to stand/walk for hours
• Excellent communication skills
• Clean background (no violations in last 5 years)
• Pass DOT drug test
