Job summary

Blackhawk Mining, LLC is seeking a hardworking underground miner to perform essential support tasks in a coal seam environment. You will engage in shoveling, rockdusting, timbering, brattice work, ventilation, pumping and roadway maintenance, ensuring safety and efficiency in outby areas.

The role requires an Underground coal miner's certificate and commitment to 16-hour retraining annually, with additional task training as needed.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of mining support activities and safe job procedures.
• Underground coal mining certification and ongoing retraining.
• Ability to operate and use basic hand tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Shoveling, rockdusting, timbering, brattice work, stoppings, ventilation, belt moves, power moves, pumping and roadway maintenance.
• Perform duties to keep outby areas in efficient operating condition.
• Fill in on section as needed and perform other duties as required.

Job description

Performs all duties and activities in a manner that conforms to site specific safety requirements, company policy, state and federal regulations.

• Perform duties and responsibilities as assigned which would include but are not limited to: shoveling, rockdusting, timbering, brattice work, stoppings, ventilation, belt moves, power moves, pumping and roadway maintenance.
• Perform other tasks and duties as required to maintain the outby areas in efficient operating condition.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

• Fill in on section as needed and as qualifications allow.
• Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• General knowledge of mining support activities (rockdusting, timbering, brattice work, ventilation, pumps, etc.).
• Knowledge of safe job procedures for general inside labor.
• Skill with hand tools.
• Know the Safe Job Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, company safety policies, and applicable rules and regulations.

Working Environment/Physical Activities:

• This position requires the operator to possess the dexterity (refer to Physical Abilities) to work and operate machinery and equipment in a coal seam height that varies. The operator must constantly be attentive to the changing geological conditions and surrounding environment.

Education, Qualifications and Training:

• Underground coal miner's certificate
• Annual 16 hour retraining and/or appropriate training

• Other qualifications as required by contract, regulations and/or management
