Job summary

The Berkshire Gas Company, part of Avangrid, seeks a Union Utility III in the Greenfield, MA area. You will perform gas facility mark outs, assist with underground utility work, and respond as an on-call first responder after hours.

You will operate equipment and support crews in a safety-conscious environment. Required are a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a CDL Class A within 18 months, with a clean driving record and DOT certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid driver's license (Class B) required.
• CDL Class A license must be obtained within 18 months.
• Clean driving record and ability to secure DOT certification.
• Hoisting license is required.
• Residency within the Adams distribution area.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor including lifting, shoveling, and jack hammering to support excavation work.
• Operate dump trucks, backhoes and attachments and other motorized equipment.
• Support distribution work crews as a team member.
• Provide dig safe mark outs of gas facilities.
• Conduct gas leak investigations and survey compliance work.

**POSITION - Union:** Utility III**NUMBER OF OPEN POSITIONS:** 1**LOCATION:** **BGC** - MA - Greenfield**STARTING HOURLY RATE:** $32.74***Job Summary***Under the supervision of qualified personnel. perform or assist with utility compliance work on underground gas facilities, may operate excavating equipment and specific company equipment to facilitate the installation and repair of gas mains and services including gas facility mark outs, conducting gas leak investigation and other emergency response during business and outside of normal business hours as an “on-call” first responder.
