Job summary

NYSTATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP in Lancaster, NY seeks a Line Mechanic 1/C to perform highly skilled construction and maintenance on energized systems. You will install transformers, manage phasing on polyphase circuits, and participate in switching operations as required.

The role requires several years of Lineman experience, strong knowledge of line practices, safety rules, and the ability to lead other crew members under directive supervision. On-site work in all weather conditions is expected.

Qualifications

• At least three years of experience as Second-Class Lineman or equivalent.
• Able to perform routine operations of moderate complexity under detailed instructions.
• Qualified to operate an automobile and possess a valid license.
• Good working knowledge of line practices and transmission/distribution lines.
• Solid understanding of electrical fundamentals related to transmission and distribution.
• Familiar with Safety Rules, first aid, and resuscitation procedures.
• Must be able to pass required health/vision tests including color perception.

Responsibilities

• Perform the most complicated construction and maintenance work on energized conductors, structures and equipment.
• Make polyphase transformer installations; handle phasing and phase rotation on polyphase circuits.
• Perform distribution and transmission switching and sectionalizing as needed.
• Trace and clear grounds and opens on series circuits.
• Install/ disconnect meters, services, and related equipment.
• Direct work of other Linemen or Groundmen.
• May install instrument transformers as required.

**POSITION – Union:** **NYSEG** Line Mechanic 1/C**NUMBER OF POSITIONS:** 1**LOCATION:** **NYSEG** - NY – Lancaster**HOURLY RATE:** $61.68 - $62.68 ***Responsibilities**** Under directive supervision does the most complicated construction and maintenance work on energized conductors, structures and equipment.* Must be able to make all types of polyphase transformer installations; do phasing and phase rotation on polyphase circuits; do distribution and transmission switching and sectionalizing when required; trace and clear grounds and opens on series circuits.* May be required to install instrument transformers; install, remove, connect or disconnect electric and/or gas meters and services.* Performs other related and less skilled work as directed, including operation of transportation equipment.* Directs work of other Linemen or Groundmen assisting him. (See Memorandum governing bonus pay for Chief Line and Lineman 1/C assigned additional supervisory responsibility dated 9/29/68.)***Skills and Requirements**** Should have had at least three years' experience as Second-Class Lineman or its equivalent, as evidenced by an appropriate test.* Able to perform routine operations of moderate complexity and variety based on detailed instructions.
