The City of Pearland, TX is seeking a full-time Utility Billing Field Technician to lead and improve day-to-day operations in the Utility Billing Division of the Finance department. This role focuses on meter reads, field validations, and customer education in a fast-paced environment.

Salary ranges from $17.77 to $18.49 per hour, with benefits including dental, long-term disability, life insurance, and substantial medical premium coverage; TMRS retirement with 2:1 employer match; paid holidays

Qualifications

• Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
• Requires some meter reading experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs weekly water meter reads via drive-by for AMR and AMI meters for scheduled billing.
• Field validation to ensure information is accurate from meter reading for billing.
• Completes daily work orders including start and stop service, re-reads for billing and upon customers' request, delinquency shut off and reconnects.
• Maintains water meters; replaces meters and meter apparatus as needed.
• Performs meter profile and 40-day usage reports for office analysis.
• Field validation for all zero consumption accounts before billing.
• Meet customers in field to educate on meter reading and troubleshoot usage.
• Assist in troubleshooting accounts when meter is not reading into the network.
• Performs city-wide field validation for accuracy of account setup and billing.
• Assists Public Works as needed.
• Performs related work as assigned.

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Utility Billing Field Technician to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day of operations our Finance department in the Utility Billing Division. The Utility Billing Field Technician earns a competitive salary of $17.77 to $18.49 per hour based on qualifications. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE UTILITY BILLING FIELD TECHNICIAN

Job Summary

The purpose of this class within the organization is for completion of daily, weekly, and monthly meter reads for billing. Perform work orders for start and end service, billing field validations, disconnect, and reconnects.

This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

Essential Functions

• Performs weekly water meter reads via drive‑by for AMR and AMI meters for scheduled billing.
• Field validation to ensure information is accurate from meter reading for billing.
• Completes daily work orders which include start and stop service, re‑reads for billing and upon customers request, delinquency shut off and reconnects, and more.
• Maintains water meters; Replaces water meters upon damages identified, replaces meter apparatus upon damages identified.
• Performs meter profile, 40-day usage report in the field for office analyzing to check for accuracy and/or abnormal water consumption.
• Field validation for all zero consumption accounts after meter readings are performed and prior to billing.
• Meet customers in field to assist and educate of meter reading, troubleshooting to locate inside or outside continuous usage, meter location, and more.

Additional Duties

• Assist in troubleshooting accounts at time that meter is not reading into the network.
  
• Performs city wide field validation for accuracy of account set up and billing.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
• Requires some meter reading experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

• CSI License from TCEQ or received in one year.
• Valid class C Driver's License issued by the State of Texas
