Job summary

Knife River Corporation is seeking a hands-on operator to manage heavy equipment in trenching projects around utilities in Missoula, MT. You will perform daily inspections, set trench boxes, and ensure rigging is correct for lowering materials into trenches.

The role requires physical activity across varying weather conditions, strong safety adherence, and the ability to work in high-stress environments. CDL is preferred, with company benefits and full-time employment offered.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to work flexible shifts.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
• Ability to communicate and work with others in a high-stress environment.
• Actively implement company and industry safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate all heavy equipment safely and take action to prevent unsafe actions or behaviors.
• Perform daily equipment inspections.
• Excavate mainline trenches in and around utilities.
• Trench and set mainline trench boxes in accordance to OSHA standards.
• Understand and implement proper rigging for materials being lowered into the trench.
• Job requires standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven ground, shoveling, and raking.
• Some physical labor is required.
• Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

• Operate all heavy equipment safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions or behaviors
• Perform daily equipment inspections
• Excavate mainline trenches in and around utilities
• Trench and set mainline trench boxes in accordance to OSHA standards

• Job requires steady to intermittent physical activity including standing, stooping kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven ground, shoveling, and raking
• Some physical labor is required
• Perform other duties as directed by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications;

• Must be willing to work flexible shifts
• Must be willing to work in all weather conditions
• Valid driver's license but a CDL is a preferred
• Must pass a pre employment drug screening and background
• Ability to communicate and work with others in a high stress environment
