Job summary

Knife River - MT is seeking a heavy equipment operator to perform trenching and excavation tasks in Montana. You will operate all heavy equipment safely, conduct inspections, and set trench boxes while adhering to OSHA standards.

The role requires physical activity, ability to work in varying weather, and strong commitment to safety policies. CDL preferred, pre-employment drug screening and background checks are required. Apply online if possible.

Qualifications

  • Must be willing to work flexible shifts.
  • Must be willing to work in all weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license but a CDL is a preferred.
  • Must pass a pre employment drug screening and background.
  • Ability to communicate and work with others in a high stress environment.
  • Actively implement company & industry safety policies to ensure a consistently safe working environment for employees, owners, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all heavy equipment safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions or behaviors.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections
  • Excavate mainline trenches in and around utilities
  • Trench and set mainline trench boxes in accordance to OSHA standards
  • Understand and implement the proper rigging for all materials being lowered into the trench
  • Job requires steady to intermittent physical activity including standing, stooping kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven ground, shoveling, and raking
  • Some physical labor is required
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor
