Job summary

AlphaHire seeks a remote-based 1099 consultant to coordinate utility make-ready and interconnection for EV charging and fleet depot projects. You will analyze rate structures, advise on timelines, and work with agencies and engineers through energization.

The role emphasizes strong written coordination with utilities and public agencies, with occasional client meetings and travel as needed.

Description:

• Map utility make-ready, service upgrade, and interconnection steps for EVSE and fleet depot projects
• Prepare or review load letters, interconnection applications, and utility coordination packages
• Analyze utility rate schedules, demand charges, and time-of-use options affecting charger operating costs
• Advise agencies on utility timelines, capacity constraints, and project phasing to avoid stranded assets
• Coordinate with agency facilities teams, engineers, and utility account managers through design and energization
• Document project risks, dependencies, and decision points for project managers and elected-official briefings
• Contribute qualifications and past-performance narratives to AlphaGov proposals when authorized

Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience coordinating utility service upgrades or interconnection for EV charging or similar electrical loads
• Working knowledge of utility make-ready programs, demand charges, and utility process timelines
• Strong written coordination skills with utilities, engineers, and public-agency facilities teams
• Ability to work as a 1099 project-based consultant in a remote-first arrangement with occasional client or utility meetings
• Background in utilities, municipalities, or consulting for EVSE, fleet depots, or distributed energy interconnection (preferred)
• Experience with IOU or municipal utility make-ready incentives and NEVI/CFI utility coordination (preferred)
• Familiarity with DER, battery storage, or managed charging programs that reduce demand charges (preferred)
