Position Summary:
As the Utility Driver, you will operate commercial trucks and other large vehicles. Your duties include loading and unloading tanker with petroleum products, delivering fuel and/or delivering lubricant products, both bulk and various package styles to Company-owned sites and consumer customers. You will be moving semi-trucks or large vehicles from one spot to another. Qualifications for the job include a mix of career experience and skills. Knowledge of all safety standards and OSHA regulations is important. Responsible to consistently role model our Core Values.
Essential Position Functions and Responsibilities:
Loads and unloads tanker/totes with lubricant products, both bulk and various package styles adhering to all Company and Governmental regulations.
Load and unload various petroleum products, adhering to all regulations and procedures, while maintaining the utmost safety standards
Chocks rear wheels of truck and trailer before any unloading takes place.
Removes chocks before driving away from delivery.
Operates box truck and stake bed trucks according to Company policies and state/federal laws
Transports load over required route to proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
Completes and transmits all paperwork in compliance with established Company procedures.
Maintains vehicle cleanliness and replaces gaskets, keep nozzles and other related articles, as necessary.
Performs safety inspections on trucks, equipment and/or facilities as required by Company policy.
Maintains miscellaneous service duties such as checking daily oil, water, fuel, tires and tank related items.
Communicates with warehouse to inform of full barrels on the pallet to restock.
Reports any equipment malfunctions/concerns to Warehouse Manager and/or Fleet Manager.
Knowledge of and the ability to use auxiliary pumps for loading and unloading of vehicle and use spill kits and fire extinguisher.
Performs specific tasks as assigned by Warehouse Manager.
Always give all customers prompt and courteous service and use tact and diplomacy in dealing with Wilcox & Flegel Team Members and guests.
Promotes and support Company image standards.
Adheres to all city, county, and state regulations.
Follows the work schedule as posted unless a change in schedule is arranged with Warehouse Manager.
Pitches in to help where needed.
Stays familiar with the Company Policies and Procedures.
Ensures Warehouse Manager is made aware of any operating discrepancies.
Properly posts and verifies all hours worked daily.
Works in a safe manner always and report all accidents immediately.
May also fuel trains.
Work out of multiple locations.
Travel required.
Critical Core Competencies and Skills:
Meets Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements, pass substance abuse screening and agree to random substance abuse screening as required by Company Policy.
Must be highly organized with strong ability to multi-task.
Must be able to climb in and out of truck, operate gear shift and brake & gas petals.
Must be able to climb on various pieces of equipment to reach fuel tank access.
Knowledge of and the ability to use loading arms and card readers at rack facilities, use auxiliary pumps for loading and unloading of vehicle and use spill kits and fire extinguisher.
Must be able to drive at night with limited visibility.
Able to assess competing demands and determine appropriate direction.
Proven ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing environment; agile, flexible, and resilient.
Proven ability to follow established processes and procedures
Ability to read, write, and preform basic math calculations
Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skill
Ability to speak and communicate using devices supplied by the Company.
Minimum Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education and Experience:
Two years experience hauling hazardous materials preferred
Haz-Mat and Tanker endorsements and TWIC Preferred
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations (note if Required or Preferred):
Must possess Class A CDL
