Job summary

The State of Missouri is seeking qualified applicants for auditing positions in the Missouri Public Service Commission. You will audit investor-owned utility companies, analyze financial data for anomalies and trends, and prepare detailed workpapers and reports for the Commission.

Responsibilities include presenting testimony in rate cases, traveling up to 30% and leveraging GAAP knowledge. A CPA path may be supported by the department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or closely related field with minimum 15 hours in accounting
• 0-2 years professional accounting experience
• Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Computer proficiency; MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Access preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform audits and examinations of investor-owned utility companies operating within Missouri
• Analyze financial data to identify anomalies, trends and unusual activity
• Prepare detailed audit workpapers, schedules and reports supporting recommendations to the Commission
• Present oral and written testimony in formal rate cases before the Commission
• Up to 30% travel may be required
• Note: CPA certification path may be pursued through work experience
