Job summary

GreenWood, Inc in Greer, SC is seeking a Utility Associate to perform custodial duties and responsible waste disposal within the facility. The role involves cleaning restrooms, floors, dusting surfaces, scrubbing and waxing floors, and maintaining supplies.

You will also handle cardboard/bale duties and operate a trash compactor in a safety-sensitive environment. Qualifications include knowledge of standard janitorial methods, adherence to safety rules, ability to follow instructions and operate

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of standard janitorial methods, practices, tools and equipment.
  • Able to follow instructions and safety rules.
  • Ability to operate cleaning tools, supplies and equipment.
  • Experience supporting a positive safety culture is preferred.
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and service restrooms.
  • Sweep, vacuum and mop floors and stairways.
  • Dust blinds, furniture and fixtures.
  • Scrub, strip, sanitize, wax and buff floors.
  • Polish metal work and chrome.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies.
  • Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork and windows.
  • Shampoo carpets.
  • Determine materials, supplies, tools and equipment needed.
  • Bale scrap cardboard and load into trailer with pallet jack.
  • Compact trash and operate trash chute and compactor.
  • Follow all safety procedures and foster a safety-first mindset; designated as safety-sensitive.

Job description

Position Summary The Utility Associate will perform custodial and waste (cardboard, plastic, trash) disposal within the facility.

  • Clean and service restrooms
  • Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors and stairways
  • Dust such items as blinds, furniture, file cabinets, and windowsills using treated dust mittens, cloths, or hand-cleaning items
  • Scrub, strip, sanitize, wax, and buff floors
  • Polish furniture, metal work, and chrome using appropriate cleaning and polishing compounds.
  • Maintain an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies
  • Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, mirrors, and fixtures using both step and extension ladders
  • Shampoo carpets
  • Determine appropriate cleaning materials, supplies, tools, and equipment needed to accomplish job
  • Bale scrap cardboard (Remove cardboard from transportation cart, bale cardboard, load bale into trailer using pallet jack
  • Compact trash (remove trash from transportation cart, place down trash chute, operate compactor)
  • Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
  • Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position.

Essential Skills And Experience
  • Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the janitorial service
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, supplies, cleaning compounds, and solutions
  • Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
Beneficial Skills And Experience
  • Preferred one year or more of janitorial & waste management experience
  • Certified PIT (powered industrial truck) operator
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety rules, and regulations
  • Knowledge of building and property security procedures
