Job Summary

Highly skilled operator for Utility 3 (VRT/Robot/Dock) on the 2nd Shift at Kraft Heinz – Cedar Rapids. The role requires flexibility across multiple positions, solid knowledge of equipment, safety regulations, and the ability to lead a department during absences.

Plant Overview

• 3-Shift operation
• Non-Union facility with approximately 200 hourly staff members (temporary and full-time).
• 100% Food Service – 4 bag soup lines, 1 tub line, 18 kettles, 5 filling lines, and 4 packaging lines.
• Products include frozen soups and macaroni & cheese.

Responsibilities & Duties

Dock

• Operate forklift.
• Issue/return raw materials in SAP daily.
• Transport goods to and from lines and areas.
• Load and unload product.
• Maintain required records for inventory handled.

Robot

• Operate robotic arm systems for material handling, sortation, palletization, and other distribution processes.
• Monitor and control robotic arm movements to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
• Perform daily inspections on the robotic arm system.
• Communicate with the Maintenance department for advanced support and maintenance.
• Conduct quality checks to verify production standards.
• Maintain accurate records of robot programs, setup configurations, and maintenance activities.
• Protect product quality by ensuring pallets are not left in the palletizing area beyond guidelines.

VRT

• Operate VRT machine with accuracy.
• Identify products by product code and enter information into the VRT computer system.
• Verify and unload product from the VRT at appropriate times to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Maintain operating integrity of conveyors before shift start.
• Ensure cleanliness and operating efficiency of the VRT throughout the shift.
• Apply knowledge of Clean Inspect Lubricate (CIL), Centerline (CL), 5S, basic problem solving, and DDS system execution.
• Participate in root cause problem‑solving for key chronic loss areas.
• Eliminate unsafe conditions and report them immediately to your supervisor.
• Comply with GMPs, safety guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
