Job summary

Kraft Heinz seeks an Utilities Supervisor at the Springfield Plant to lead utilities personnel, manage maintenance processes, and ensure reliable plant operation. The role covers budgeting, KHMS adherence, and coordination with engineering for capital projects.

Responsibilities include leading diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and inter-department collaboration to minimize downtime. A technical degree and TPM/PSM familiarity are preferred, with ability to work varying shifts and obtain

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred.
  • 1–5 years of related leadership experience in a Manufacturing environment is required.
  • Must be familiar with maintenance management system operations.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining TPM Systems is strongly preferred.
  • Previous PSM experience strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and utility systems including ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ESG and EHS requirements of manufacturing operations.
  • ERT team member for the site. Must be able to work flexible schedule including days, afternoons, midnights, and weekend work.
  • Able to obtain and keep Universal Freon License and Missouri Water Testing Certification.
  • Willing to attend and pass Garden City Ammonia Program Trainings within the first 12 months after placement.

Responsibilities

  • Directs utilities personnel to ensure systems operate at highest capability to meet production schedules.
  • Improves reliability, maintenance and processing methods to reduce cost and avoid production loss from equipment issues.
  • Attend to equipment capabilities, safety and operational conditions per KHMS policies.
  • Develops preventive maintenance procedures that are cost effective and extend equipment life.
  • Assist in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain departmental operating budget with positive variance through efficient use of workforce and equipment.
  • Evaluate long-term needs for major projects and factory improvements.
  • Ensure equipment and facility infrastructure is maintained safely and operable; arrange replacements as needed.
  • Establish procedures and contacts for timely repairs of equipment.
  • Lead department meetings and maintain employee relations through clear communication.
  • Direct workers in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery with focus on safety procedures.
  • Partner with business leaders on implementing KHMS process improvements including change initiatives.
  • Provide supervision for Utilities staff including performance management and development.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Manager and other stakeholders for ongoing operations.
  • Track utility usage with meters and provide reports to internal groups including ESG partners.
  • Analyze utility data to identify unfavorable trends and drive corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies for testing, audits, and compliance.
  • Serve as primary contact with City Utilities of Springfield for plant needs and disruptions.
  • Support EHS team with security, waste management, and audits as needed.
  • Ensure site inspections for utilities and equipment are up to date.

Job Description

The Utilities Supervisor will assist with all facility utility related activities to ensure maximum operational potential is realized for the entire plant operation. This includes all functions in the areas of Maintenance Business Management, Maintenance Materials Inventory (MRO), Maintenance Recruit to Retire, Manufacturing Process Reliability and Equipment Reliability, e.g. departmental budgets, computerized maintenance management systems, preventive/predictive and corrective maintenance programs. Also, Technical Skills Management of electrical, electronics, controls programming, mechanical systems, building infrastructure integrity, grounds keeping, utility systems including but not limited to boiler, ammonia refrigeration, and compressed air. Assistance with the development, coordination and execution of maintenance related capital budget items in concert with engineering.

Key Responsibilities Of The Role
  • Directs utilities personnel to ensure that all systems operate at their highest capability to meet required production schedules.
  • Improves reliability, maintenance and processing methods to reduce cost and avoid loss of production because of equipment malfunction and/or failure time.
  • Determine and document equipment capabilities, safety and operational conditions in accordance with KHMS policies and routines.
  • Develops preventative maintenance procedures that are cost effective and increase the operational life of the equipment.
  • Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining departmental operating budget at a positive variance by effectively utilizing the workforce and equipment.
  • Evaluate long-term needs in relation to major projects and factory improvements.
  • Ensure that equipment and facility infrastructure is maintained in a safe and operable condition or arrange for replacement/upgrades.
  • Establish procedures and contacts to ensure timely repairs of equipment.
  • Assists with developing department employee relations by consistent communication of all information affecting them and through the conduct of monthly departmental meetings.
  • Direct workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery with extended focus on adherence to Kraft Heinz and industry safety procedures.
  • Assist and partner with business leaders on implementation of process improvement (Kraft Heinz Management System (KHMS)) including leading change initiatives, planning, and facilitation.
  • Provide supervision to the Utilities staff including but not limited to performance management and employee development, etc.
  • Continuous and close coordination with the Maintenance Manager, other Maintenance Supervisor(s), Plant Management Staff, and Human Resources.
  • Track utility usage through City Utility meters as well as local meters and provide reports to various internal groups including ESG partners.
  • Analyze utility usage data to identify unfavorable trends and partner with plant teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Primary contact with regulatory agencies (MDNR, City Inspectors, FM Global) to ensure periodic testing, audit requirements, training requirements, and deficiency resolutions are fulfilled.
  • Partner with City Utilities of Springfield to ensure all utility needs are provided to the plant and serve as the primary point of contact for any utility disruptions including Natural Gas Curtailment.
  • Support the EHS team with security, waste management, ERT, compliance audits, etc. as needed.
  • Ensure site is compliant with all inspections related to utility and facility equipment including certified vessel inspections, boiler inspections, elevator inspections, and fire protection systems.
  • Partner with key contractors to schedule preventative work as well as emergency support as needed.
  • Manage facility landscaping requirements / snow removal
  • Participate in yearly quality audits (QRMP, FSSC, Compliance Audits, etc.) and assist in the development of procedures and corrective actions.
Qualifications

New Hire Base Salary Range

$77,800.00 - $97,300.00

Bonus

This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.

The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
