Job summary

Brownsville Public Utilities Board seeks a supervisory professional to oversee operations of public utilities projects, including water, sewer, and electric systems. You will plan work, supervise crews, and ensure compliance with safety and policy requirements.

Responsibilities include coordinating schedules, maintaining records, inspecting facilities, and directing maintenance through work orders while prioritizing safety and efficiency in all tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or U.S. Equivalency report required and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, water or wastewater systems.

Responsibilities

• Plans and schedules work and assists personnel with the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of equipment and system components, ensuring technical accuracy.
• Supervises construction, maintenance, and repair of water, sewer, and electric facilities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Plans and lays out work of subordinates on the job; estimates material and equipment needs; keeps work, time and material records and logs, and creates reports on work performed and activities.
• Assigns individual team members to their respective shifts and reassigns personnel as required to minimize overtime or compensate for personnel shortages.
• Reviews all operating data for the previous 24 hours and reports any deficiencies to assigned supervisor.
• Directs maintenance through work orders to correct operating deficiencies and reports all deficiencies.
• Inspects and assesses the department’s facility condition, prioritizes, and then schedules the workload.
• Installs, replaces, and repairs high-pressure water, steam, or gas lines in accordance with ASME and AWS standards.
