Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Utilities Operating Technician for our New Augusta/Leaf River facility. This role safely operates process equipment to meet mill production and quality goals.

It includes mandatory trainings and participation in the Fire & Rescue team, with a 12-hour rotating shift that may include weekends and holidays. Starting pay is $28.28 per hour, with opportunities to progress to as high as $43.47 per hour.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment (or an Associate's Degree).
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel for data entry and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor process variables to maintain efficient operations and meet department quality, cost, and production goals.
• Progress through the appropriate skills level checklist in a timely manner with the goal to advance to the Control Room Operator Position.
• Performs equipment cleanup and operator basic care including minor maintenance tasks and troubleshooting.
• Performs railcar and tanker truck loading and unloading operations for hazardous materials produced or consumed in the process.
• Participates in the mill fire brigade and hazard material teams.
• Maintains strict adherence to safety rules & regulations to include wearing required safety equipment.
